The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, School for Marine Science and Technology (SMAST) hosts a marine science internship program for New Bedford High School students. The summer internship provides a paid research experience to under-represented groups in marine science to promote further education and career opportunities.
Students participate in weekly field trips (Mondays) and work in selected research labs (Tuesday – Friday). Students can select a lab to work in based on their interests, with opportunities ranging from conservation engineering, computational modeling, fisheries research and management, and more.
