As part of the lab’s outreach efforts we regularly have a presence at fisheries conferences, working waterfront and seafood festivals, as well as host many school groups at SMAST to show them our research and conduct hand on dissections of marine animals in our lab spaces.
We host tables at career fairs at UMass Dartmouth, and Westport and New Bedford High School. We also can be found at community events like Party for the Planet! At Buttonwood Park Zoo and Seafood Day at the State House.
Elementary school campers from the New Bedford Heritage Fishing Center came to SMAST for a tour and to dissect scallops.
